Heavy Trash

Heavy or Bulky Waste is defined as: White Goods, furniture, and other oversize wastes which are customary to ordinary housekeeping operations of a residential unit and whose large size precludes or complicates its handling by normal solid waste collection, processing, or disposal methods.

White Goods: Refrigerators and freezers which have CFC’s removed by a certified technician, stoves and ranges, water heaters, and other similar appliances, swing sets, and bicycles (without tires).

Tree, shrub, and Brush trimmings or unrecycled newspapers and magazines should be securely tied together forming an easily handled package, not to exceed four (4) feet in length. Total weight of a bag and its contents shall not exceed 40 pounds.

Brush is defined as: Any cuttings or trimmings from trees, shrubs, or lawns, and similar materials, and is not greater than four (4) feet in length and greater than three (3) inches in diameter. Also excluded from this list is any debris resulting from services of a commercial service provider.

Also, paint and motor oil is neither an acceptable trash item nor acceptable as a recycle bin item for normal pickup. These items need to be disposed of correctly through a proper facility.

  • Magazines
  • Office Paper
  • Brown Paper Bags
  • Newspapers
  • Paperboard
  • Paper Cardboard (Dairy and Juice Cartons)
  • Junk Mail
  • Phone Books
  • Plastic Bottles and Containers (types #1-7, except styrofoam)
  • Glass Bottles and Jars
  • Aluminum Cans, Foil and Pie Tins
  • Tin or Steel Cans

Please DO NOT include food waste, films, plastic bags, plastic wrap, foam cups and containers.
